NY NOW Summer 2017

One Candle = Twelve Women

It requires the skills of up to 12 artisans in a small rural village of South Africa, to create one hand painted candle at Kapula, a guaranteed member of the World Fair Trade Organization. Approximately 90% of the artisans are women, primarily single mothers that support themselves, their children and quite often an extended family. So each candle purchased in the States is positively impacting up to 12 families and their communities.

With styles complementing traditional, modern and cottage décor, in addition to holiday-specific items, Kapula Candles, as well as their ceramic pieces, add a note of warmth and vitality to any room. Plus, the compelling story behind the products, make these items excellent for gift-giving. Kapula Candles also has the unique capability to customize designs that coordinate with themed events or color schemes.

Thumbprint Artifacts, US distributor for Kapula, provides distinctive home décor items to shops and boutiques across the U.S., while creating economic self-sufficiency for craftswomen in South Africa.
