In 1830's, a special product called "Rankakude" was produced which was thin as eggshell but durable. Europeans highly admired the products due to its exquisiteness and craftsmanship, and called them "Egg Shell".

Egg Shell had been exported until the early Meiji Period: however, the export declined due to the World Wars. In such as unstable period, the production also decreased and finally stopped around 100 years ago.

Rankakude was called an illusionary product, as its manufacturing process was a confidential matter and it required exceptional skills.

By pursuing the transparency unique to porcelain and improving the porcelain clay, establishing the unique forming process and the perfect recipe of the clay, we made it possible to mass produce Egg Shell.

At least, we, Yamahei Kamamoto, created the full lineup of Egg Shell.

Egg Shell series

Ultra-thin

We produced Egg Shell focusing on its ultimate thinness so that it lets the drink into your mouth smoothly with no loss of flavor.

Enjoyment of colors of liquid

Porcelain itself is a translucent material.

In addition to this, with further investigation of clay combination, we made it possible to improve the translucency.

Due to the painstaking firing techniques and the thinness created by the meticulous works, the contents inside them can be faintly seen from the outside.

The beauty of white color in Arita porcelain

Egg shell has an extremely simple form to highlight the white color, which is one of the characteristic of  Arita porcelain. As its inside is glazed and the surface is covered with engobe, it is reminiscent of a cocoon.

Please enjoy the soft texture when you hold it in hand and the smooth with your lips!
