The graying of the U.S. population will lead to a greater need for mental health professionals with gerontological training. This session will provide valuable skills to those interested in counseling older adults. The session content includes an overview of demographic shifts and social barriers affecting older adults’ mental health; a review of current research related to clinical diagnosis, assessment, and treatment; and a practical model that can be used to guide assessment and treatment in diverse clinical settings.
