Caster scheduling utilizes several tools to produce efficient steelmaking schedules; however, these tools are not without limitations. This model’s intent is to remove these limitations by creating a dynamic logistics model to improve scheduling protocols. The model consists of three separate modules that are integrated. The first module focuses on the processing time per slab and utilization rate for steelmaking. The second is a financial model that calculates the cost of producing a slab. The third is a scheduling model that allows for the importation of the first and second modules as constraints.
