Melting characteristics of iron ores greatly affect the quality and quantity of sinter. The fusion flow process and its influencing factors on five types of iron ores were studied with the sessile drop method. The results show that: when the mole ratio of CaO and Fe was higher, the product was mainly calcium ferrite with lower melting point. Otherwise, the product was mainly hematite or magnetite, which was hard to melt. When lower than 2%, the Al2O3 promoted the formation of liquid phase. Otherwise, it was opposite. Loose structure boosted the melting reaction by promoting the diffusion of primary liquid phase.
