Ceramic cup technology for BF hearth design is now almost globally accepted. Saint-Gobain pioneered the concept almost 35 years ago. This paper will briefly cover the design evolution to today's fourth generation. Results from BF after operation and in operation using this latest design will be shown. Numerous hearth thermal analyses will given. The benefits to operators will be highlighted.
