Utilization of H2 in the blast furnace ironmaking process is a potential option for further reduction of CO2 emissions. However, its influence on the reduction disintegration behaviors of iron ore agglomerates such as sinter and pellet has not been well clarified. In this study, therefore, the acoustic emission (AE) method was applied for its detailed observation. AE is an in-situ, non-destructive technique to evaluate the crack-generation and propagation phenomena. The results show that obtained the characteristic data of AE quantitatively reflect the reduction disintegration behavior.
