Important Lessons for Successful Projects
Primetals Technologies Japan has carried out a downcoiler modernization project at Nisshin Steel Kure Works' hot strip mill. The scope of the project was the engineering, supply and installation of two state-of-the-art hydraulic downcoilers and the No. 0 pinch roll in front of the downcoilers. Installation of the new downcoilers had been implemented by utilizing ordinary half-yearly shutdown periods for three years. In this paper, an outline of the project, results and features of Primetals Technologies’ downcoiler will be presented.
