Enhancement of AHSS Through Optimized Microalloying & Thermomechanical Processing
The mechanical properties of AHSS are rapidly increasing beyond the capabilities of in-place equipment to side trim, scrap chop, shear, and slit AHSS grades. To address this challenge for pickle lines, galvanizing lines, and service centers ASKO has developed its HXT knife technology to successfully process 3rd generation AHSS on existing equipment while also producing optimum sheared edge quality. These knives have demonstrated 3X to 6X the life of conventional knives. By carefully combining material grade, heat treatment, and edge conditioning, ASKO’s HXT knife technology has allowed lines to not only regain their previous throughput and quality but surpass it.
