Dermaplaning is utilized by doctors to surgically scrape irregularities from the skin. Estheticians use the same name for a safe procedure of exfoliating the epidermis and ridding skin of fine, vellus hair. Currently only barbers can legally perform dermaplaning in California. An alternative procedure using an alkaline peel, specifically designed for the California esthetician will be also demonstrated.
