After this session, attendees should be able to:
- Describe at least three essentials of providing comprehensive and effective travel health care to college students.
- Discuss the significance of mental health issues as they relate to college student international travel.
- Explain the significance of accidents and risk-taking for traveling college students.
- Describe at least three creative ways in which college student travel is being approached.
Program Abstract:
College travel health essentials will be discussed covering pre-travel education, travel consults, intra-travel support, and post-travel issues. Elements of student travel which are less well-known including the role of risk-taking, accidents and mental health issues will be discussed. Finally, creative approaches to providing effective travel health care in a college setting and new opportunities for original research and collaboration will be addressed.
