Space-Age visionary author Ray Bradbury (1920–2012) remains one of the best-known writers of our time. This lecture draws on the extensive archives of Indiana University’s Bradbury Center on the Indianapolis campus, which is now home to the author’s papers, his working library, and a lifetime of awards and mementoes. Rising from the crushing poverty of the Great Depression, Ray Bradbury became a master storyteller who transcended genre boundaries to create such modern literary classics as The Martian Chronicles, The Illustrated Man, The Golden Apples of the Sun, The October Country, Dandelion Wine, and Something Wicked This Way Comes. Fahrenheit 451, his cautionary tale of censorship and book burning, remains a perennial bestseller today. Bradbury’s award-winning Hollywood career is also featured in this lecture, along with his abiding legacy as one of the most popular and dynamic advocates for the American space program.

If you'd like to visit the Bradbury Center (and the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and LIbrary), there's a tour to both places on Friday 7/6 at 8:30 am. Please note this tour is through special arrangements with both facilities and is not affiliated with the company providing the other tours. Please direct any questions to tours@ag.us.mensa.org. Tickets will be sold at registration at the AG.
