Human Trafficking: It's Happening in Your Neighborhood (Room JW Grand Ballroom 9)

Human trafficking is a violent, multi-billion dollar industry that is international in scope yet devastating to persons living in our local communities, which are barely aware of its existence. Human trafficking occurs in two forms, labor trafficking and sex trafficking. It is the fastest growing criminal industry worldwide, second only to the drug trade, generating in excess of $150 billion each year. Throughout the world, some 27 million people are exploited through human trafficking. One of the many myths about human trafficking in the United States is that it does not occur here and does not affect U.S. citizens. In reality, human trafficking is in your community, and it is affecting our children.
