Science fiction authors do not generally craft stories as predictors of the future. It may turn out that science fiction readers trained in the sciences are inspired by the fiction they have read. This presentation is an informal conversation about how science fiction origins have apparently inspired science and technology; a discussion of the current state of the art; thoughts about where these inspirations might be going; and how we can participate in enhancing our possible future(s).
