Researching his books of presidential history, Ian Randal Strock came to know the presidents and their families. And while he makes a point of noting that they’re “just people,” he’s also uncovered some fascinating oddities that truly do set them apart from the rest of us. Come to this free-wheeling, wide-ranging talk to learn about James Buchanan’s life partner, Barack Obama’s grandmother, and the women who divorced presidents. We’ll talk about all the presidents who shared ancestors, and the only two who share descendants. And of course, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt’s six children’s nineteen marriages. Presidential historian Ian Randal Strock (IanRandalStrock.com) is the author of The Presidential Book of Lists (Random House, 2008), Ranking the First Ladies (Carrel Books, 2016), and Ranking the Vice Presidents (Carrel Books, 2016). He is also a science fiction writer, editor, and the publisher/owner of Gray Rabbit Publications/Fantastic Books (FantasticBooks.biz). And he is the RVC of Region 1.
