60% Reduction of GTCC Plant Outage Duration (Room Garuda 10B, 1st Floor)

In GTCC thermal power plant, a voluntary inspection is performed in order to maintain safety of facility in a structured manner, in addition to legal inspections. In general, it takes dozens of days to inspect a power generating facility. The power generation has to be stopped to supply electricity at the duration of inspection and the plant outage directly results in decreasing the availability ratio and expected revenue from the plant. We, together with our client and contractor, achieved reducing about 60% of inspection duration by improvement of the workability utilizing our long term experiences as OEM. Recently, it is a world trend for construction of thermal power plant with high efficiency and improvement of availability ratio, in order to reduce in environmental load and power generation cost. From the trend, we recognize it is important for thermal power plants to shorten inspection period. In accordance with such a change in power generation business field, we contribute improvement of availability ratio for providing power plant owner by our technical support for shortening inspection period. As a manufacturer of main equipment, we can suggest improvements to inspection work by using our experiences designing structure of gas turbine and steam turbine and inspecting them. For example, we can provide technical support in various fields, such as developing a jig improving workability in gas turbine disassembly and/or assembly (ex. jig for fastening bolt), optimizing criteria value (ex. optimizing measured point for clearance), and using new method for disassembly and/or assembly (ex. improvement of assembly work for heat chamber). This paper presents our improvement activities of maintenance technology by our specific examples about shortening inspection and outage duration. A part of improvements described in this paper can be expected to provide a great effect not only GTCC thermal power plant but also conventional thermal power plants.
