This nonproprietary panel discussion will cover the criteria used to help select the best pipe and fitting systems for sanitary, drain, waste, vent, and storm drainage both above and below grade in various types of commercial construction. Topics to be discussed include such factors as temperature, acoustic design, thermal expansion, underground installation, and more. The panelists will answer questions such as the following: Is value engineering taking the decision-making process out of the design professional’s hands? Must cost be the overriding selection factor? What tools do engineers have at their disposal to help them hold their specs? Legal liability for failures of materials selected for projects is becoming a big issue. How do engineers protect themselves?
