In this interactive workshop, counselors and counselor educators will join with ILT participants to discuss the two specific initiatives put forth by President Catherine Roland:
TTG # 1 - LGBT Adult Lifespan Development: Counseling
Through the lens of intersectionality, aspects of identity/multiple identities to include culture and minority status; physical ability; and gender, for example, will be examined for risk factors in various counseling settings. The culmination will be the creation of a training guide on the intersectionality of counseling LGBT adults within a lifespan perspective in different counseling settings, to be used in training institute called ILLUMINATE 2017.
TTG # 2 - Division/Region Partnerships: Focus on Leader Development toward Diversity
Members of this TTG will explore ways in which we can meet two specific goals:
1.) In the spirit of targeted inclusion of various diversities, this group of leaders will devise a plan to enhance the leadership 'pipeline' to higher level professional leadership;
2.) To increase communication and advocacy between divisions and regions, this group will explore sponsorships with ACA, regions and divisions in sharing activities, increasing membership, and broader outreach.
