Engagement Theater Session 6: "Women in AFCEA - Why Are Women Leaving STEM?" (Room Olmstead A/B)

The widening gender gap in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics is a topic with just as many possible solutions as questions.  By 2020, 1.4 million jobs will be in computer technology. Of these, Americans will fill less than 29%, and women will hold only 3% of the 29%. These facts aren’t particularly surprising given the decreasing number of women with computer science degrees. In 1984, 37% of computer science degrees were conferred on women; by 2011, that number had decreased to 12%.
