Tracks: Public Safety

Drones are rapidly becoming the mission-critical solution for public safety operations providing exponential gains in response efficiency, and reductions in risk to personnel. However, establishing a drone program is time, resource, and personnel intensive and many individual agencies struggle to secure the resources necessary to establish functional drone programs. Establishing a mutual-aid model allows proximal agencies to pool resources and develop a robust drone program more capable than the sum of its parts. In this session, Kevin Lyne, Operations Branch Chief, MABAS IL and Brendan Stewart, President & Chief Pilot of AeroVista Drone Academy break down how public safety agencies and their communities benefit by working together to implement scalable, standardized, and interoperable mutual aid drone programs.

You will learn:

• Same tools, same training, same technique: The importance of standardization to promote interoperability.
• Where, when and how: How geography, resources, and population density deployment procedures.
• Encouraging buy-in: pooling resources, simplifying compliance, and setting a framework for others to follow.
