The Last Line of Defense Can Help Promote an Improved Safety Culture-Task-Based vs. Daily Wear AR/FR Clothing Programs-Pros and Cons.  Arc flash exposure hazard PPE programs: When choosing, an arc rated/flame resistant clothing program to protect against arc flash hazards, employers are faced with deciding on a program that will help foster a better culture of Safety that will best protect their workplace in the long run. Is a task based or daily wear PPE program or combination of both the best fit? A daily wear program is when an AR/FR shirt and pants are worn to work all day, every day and a task-based program is when an AR/FR coverall is put on to perform a specific task or for entering a specific area of the plant. Attendees will learn about root cause PPE program cultural issues, such as complacency, that lead to the “normalization of deviance”, causes and consequences of real arc flash incidents, and some key NFPA 70E PPE changes for 2018. Attendees will discover the pros and cons of both types of programs, including initial costs versus longer-term costs displayed in terms of potential liability due to increased risk and known productivity costs associated with these types of PPE
