Hydrogen as an Enabler for the Implementation of the European Low Carbon Economy (Room Arena 1)

Tracks: Arena 1: Energy storage: A New Paradigm

The presentation will discuss the role of hydrogen as an Enabler for the Implementation of the European low carbon economy. The main points would address power to power as well as sectoral integration and the importance of electrolyser technology. More specifically, it would highlight the importance of seasonal storage for power to power from the summer to the winter and other Power to X applications such as power to heat/liquids. Additionally, the presentation will address the need to integrate new business cases with regards to sectoral intergration and how grey/blue/green hydrogen can contribute as a decarbonised pathway for other industries (including transport, heating & cooling, etc.). Specific cases where the integration of natural gas based low carbon hydrogen supply from, for example Norway, to the EU or the potential for green hydrogen to refineries and steel manufacturing will be discussed.
