4:00 PM - 5:30 PM

Tracks: TRACK D - Power Plant Technologies

The growing trend of major Gas Turbine (GT) OEMs is the evolution of larger gas turbines (Siemens 8000H, GE 9HA.01/02, MHPS 701, Ansalso GT36) with increased GT output of up to 500 MW and improved combined cycle efficiencies exceeding 61%. These large turbines (>400 MW) bring about a host of new challenges impacting the design of HRSGs, increased operating pressure, and cycling modes add further complexity to the design of larger scale CCGT plants. These challenges serve as drivers for flexible HRSG design incorporating suitable materials for pressure parts under these conditions, which include once Through designs HRSG. Specific topics will be addressed, including: - latest trends in GT OEM designs and adaption of CCPPs for large GTs - increased operating HP pressure exceeding 180 bar, and Once Through Boiler - increased operating steam temperature over 600°C, applying stainless steel tubes This presentation shall be informative to CCGT plant developpers, contractors, owners, operators and engineers. It gives an overview of the challenging large gas turbines for meeting both efficient and flexible HRSGs Under cycling mode.
