Tracks: Time Series Energy Modeling

Traditional IEC Standards use 10-minutes averages to measure power performance. The energy density in these measurements are not always equal to the energy density in the 1Hz measurements that are made to construct them, which may impact the IEC Standard’s calculation of power performance. This presentation will detail the energy density differences between 1Hz and 10-minutes data for different inflow conditions. These results will be used to determine if the 10-minute averaging is biasing turbine performance, especially for low turbulence intensity conditions.
