O’Neil Pyke, MD, SFHM, is a practicing hospitalist physician with over 16 years of hospital management and clinical experience. He is the Chief Medical Officer for Medicus Healthcare Solutions, LLC and is also the founder and CEO for AMP Hospitalist Consulting, LLC. In his role as a hospitalist consultant, Dr. Pyke has helped numerous institutions establish or improve their hospitalist programs. His expertise is mentoring physician leaders by teaching proven strategies in managing hospital medicine programs in today’s complex hospitals. He is also an expert in finding unique staffing and scheduling solutions for hospital medicine programs. Dr. Pyke received a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from City University of New York, Queens College. He completed his Doctor of Medicine at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health after which he did his postdoctoral training in Internal Medicine at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Pennsylvania State College of Medicine. As the Chief Physician Advisor of Medicus Healthcare Solutions, LLC, Dr. Pyke has introduced innovative tools and concepts that are now being utilized by many programs across the country. These very important works, among others, currently function as the basis for standardization of practices and training across a wide spectrum of programs. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Pyke served as Medical Director for both hospitalist and Palliative Medicine programs. His primary focus is now helping hospitals develop or improve hospitalist programs. He has written broadly about the hospitalist movement and currently serves on the editorial board and blogger for Today’s Hospitalist Magazine, in addition to being a regular contributor for various other publications.
