CWO4 Robert T. Mawson is a Marine Corps Network Engineer Officer. He is currently serving as the 063X Academics Officer, Communication Training Battalion, Marine Corps Communication Electronics School, located in Twentynine Palms, CA. He is responsible for overseeing the drastic occupational field changes for the military occupational specialty 063X (Networking and Transport) while ensuring alignment with the Marine Corps communication community’s Force Modernization Strategy. This has been accomplished through a realignment of the network and transport communications skillsets, thereby requiring retraining of currently serving Marines while developing new curriculum for entry-level Marines. Robert enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1995 and upon graduation from boot camp at MCRD San Diego, CA began his career as a Field Wireman. Since that time and over the course of his 22 years of service, he has served in a multitude of Marine Corps communication billets and commands with deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. Previously, he served as a Wire and Construction Platoon Commander, 9th Communication Battalion, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force he implemented Cisco Unified Communications Manager in support of Regional Command South-West. He has also served as Commercialization and Project Officer, C6, Regional Command South-West where he was responsible for transition from tactical transport to commercial procured infrastructure. As the Station Telephone Officer he was responsible for the upgrade of to GPON and DWDM transport in support of the Joint Strike Fighter Program. In 2007 he was selected to the ranks of Warrant Officer. In addition to being a graduate of Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School and certificates from BICSI in Outside Plant Design, Inside Plant Design, Communications Center Design, and he is currently completing his certification in Project Management.
