Amanda Knight joined the Barry University athletic department staff in 2014 as the assistant director of athletics for compliance and special events. She was promoted to associate AD/compliance officer and senior woman administrator in January 2018. Previously the senior woman administrator at Texas A&M-Kingsville, Knight brings plenty of experience to the Buccaneers. In addition to her work with the Javelinas, Knight worked in the academic and compliance areas of athletics at the NCAA Division I level from 2007-11 at both Grambling State University and Campbell. At Barry, Knight oversees NCAA Compliance which includes certifying continuing eligibility, completing NCAA appeals and waiver applications, supervising the graduate assistant, providing rules education and interpretations, overseeing all aspects of roster management, updates the student-athlete handbook and athletic department compliance manual and is the chair of the compliance committee. As the advisor for the Barry Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, she helped them organize the department’s Bucky Awards, the end of the year awards ceremony which replaced the awards banquet. Knight is also an adjunct professor for the University’s First-Year Experience course, which focuses on educating incoming freshmen student-athletes on the mission of the University, discovering their personal values, developing healthy academic and personal habits, setting personal goals and developing leaders on and off the field. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from Georgia Southern University and a Master of Science in intercollegiate Athletic Administration from California University of Pennsylvania. Knight is 2013 graduate of NACWAA’s Institute for Administrative Advancement, a 2014 graduate of the NCAA’s Leadership Institute, a 2016 Student-Athlete Leadership Forum Facilitator, a member of NAAC, MOAA and Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity.
