Jean-François Galopin was born in Rocourt (Belgium) in 1966. He studied at high school ‘’collège Saint-Barthélémy’’ in Liège. Then graduated in Electromechanical civil engineer (oriented in fluid mechanics) from Université Libre de Bruxelles. He then gained an M.Sc. in Aerospace Vehicle Design at Cranfield Institute of Technology (UK). In 1992, he started to work for CMI (Belgian company, former Cockerill Mechanical Industries, now Cockerill Maintenance & Ingénierie), in the energy department, as a R&D engineer. He did not leave the company since, and successively worked as a calculation engineer, proposal engineer, project engineer, to finally reach the head of the engineering department.
