Black Brew Culture
Homebrewer Mike Potter founded Black Brew Culture in 2015 to expand Black presence in the craft beer industry, on the drinking side of the bar and in production. In partnership with Day Bracey, co-host of the Drinking Partners podcast, he presented Fresh Fest, the nation’s first Black beer festival. Launched in 2018, the annual event attracts thousands of craft beer industry veterans, connoisseurs and novices from across the country to enjoy unique beers, ciders and spirits. Also in 2018, Black Brew Culture released its first beer, For the Culture, a collaboration with Pittsburgh’s East End Brewery. Through its online platform, magazine, and Fresh Fest, Black Brew Culture educates and advocates for access, exposure, diversity, and equity in the industry, connecting craft brew culture with Black culture.
