Javier Cavada, PhD (Eng.), born in 1975, currently holds the position of President, Energy Solutions & Executive Vice President, Wärtsilä Corporation. Appointed to his role in 2015, Javier leads Wärtsilä’s energy business globally and drives its vision to become the leading global system integrator, offering a broad range of environmentally sound solutions. Wärtsilä’s offering includes ultra-flexible internal combustion engine based power plants, utility-scale solar PV power plants, energy storage & integration solutions, as well as LNG terminals and distribution systems. The flexible and efficient Wärtsilä solutions provide customers with superior value and enable a transition to a more sustainable and modern energy system. At the end of 2017, Wärtsilä had over 67 GW of installed power plant capacity in 177 countries around the world, and has positioned itself as one of the global top 3 largest technology companies in the energy market. Javier holds a PhD (Eng.) in industrial engineering from the University of Cantabria, Spain, institution that awarded him in 2015 the acknowledgement of Distinguished Alumni, recognising his academic and professional career.
