Gary has been involved in the construction industry for more than 35 years now, initially as a Quantity Surveyor, then in the risk industry and with the last 25 spent in Asia working on the contractual risk allocations and insurance requirements of infrastructure developments with a particular emphasis on power projects. Initially this was focused on coal and gas with some hydro but in recent years has increasingly included renewable energy (e.g. Wind, solar and bio-energy. Gary fervently believes that too few projects review their risk and insurance options at an early enough stage and are therefore probably incurring greater Cost of Risk and CAPEX than need be the case. Gary has a BSc in Quantity Surveying and is a qualified member of both the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII) and the Institute of Risk management (CIRM).
