Carlin G. Conner became president and chief executive officer of SemGroup in April 2014 and began driving a strategy toward focused growth and long-term value creation. Prior to joining SemGroup, Mr. Conner was managing director of Oiltanking GmbH, an independent worldwide storage provider of crude oil, refined petroleum products, liquid chemicals and gases. During his nearly 14 years with the German company, Mr. Conner focused on international business development while serving in various leadership roles at Oiltanking subsidiaries and ventures, including chairman of Oiltanking Partners, L.P. (NYSE: OILT) following its initial public offering. As an executive board member of Marquard & Bahls, Mr. Conner was instrumental in defining a new strategy for the energy supply, trading and logistics business across Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa. Mr. Conner began his career at GATX Terminals Corporation serving in various roles including operations and commercial management. He holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from McNeese State University, where he was also named 2016 Distinguished Alumnus of the Year. In addition, he completed INSEAD and MCE executive management training in France and Belgium, respectively.
