Quincy Brown, Ph.D., is a Program Director for STEM Education Research at the American Association for The Advancement of Science (AAAS). Dr. Brown previously worked as a Senior Policy Advisor in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) with a portfolio of agricultural entrepreneurship, STEM education, and the My Brother’s Keeper STEM+ Entrepreneurship initiatives; and as a Science & Technology Policy Fellow at the National Science Foundation in the CISE Directorate, working on projects involving computer science education and broadening participation in STEM. For six years Dr. Brown was an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at Bowie State University, conducting research in Human Computer Interaction, exploring methods of facilitating human interaction with advanced technologies, including mobile devices. Dr. Brown is a co-founder of NationOfMakers.org, a non-profit organization focused on fostering an inclusive and diverse community of Makers, and the founder and director of the Games+Mobile Play, Learn, Live Lab. In 2009 Dr. Brown was awarded the National Science Foundation/Computing Community Consortium CI Fellows Postdoctoral Research Fellowship award. While completing her doctoral studies as part of the Vision and Cognition (VisCog) Lab of the Computer Science Department at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Dr. Brown was a National Science Foundation GK-12 Fellow and a Bridges to the Doctorate Fellow, teaching and developing STEM curricula for middle school students.
