Mr. Tom Barnes is a native of Madison, North Carolina, who retired from the United States Army in 2012 and currently serves as the Director, Strategic Cyber Operations Plans and Programming for Parsons. Prior to joining Parsons, he served as the Director of Training for the US Army Cyber School (2015-2018) and as the Training Director for the US Army Cyber Brigade (2012-2015). He began his military career when he enlisted in the US Army as an intelligence Soldier. His previous military assignments include the 532nd Military Intelligence Battalion, Korea; USCENTCOM in Florida, USAIC&FH in Arizona, 2nd Infantry Division in Korea, 205th Military Intelligence Battalion in Hawaii, 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, NC, 704th Military Intelligence Brigade in Maryland, Detachment Meade in Maryland and finally the Special Mission Activities Branch where he served as a Mission Commander and Deputy S3/Operations Officer from 2008 to 2012. His military education includes Primary Leadership Development Course, Basic Non-Commissioned Officers Course, Warrant Officer Candidate School, 350B All-Source Intelligence Technician Warrant Officer Basic School, Officer Candidate School (OCS), MI Officer Basic School, MI Officer Advance Course, EW Officer’s course, SIGINT Operator’s Course, SERE (High Risk), Airborne, and Jumpmaster. He has earned a Masters in Organizational Management and a Baccalaureate in Human Resource Management. Mr. Barnes’ awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2), Bronze Star (3), Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Services Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (6), Army Achievement Medal (3), Joint Meritorious Unit Award (2), Global War On Terror Medal, Combat Action Badge and Senior Parachutist Badge
