Jani Mäkinen manages Wärtsilä’s generating set portfolio for power generation business, working in between the customers and Wärtsilä’s R&D functions, daily making sure that customer requirements turn into product features. Recently Jani has lead the development of the Wärtsilä medium bore engine line including the new W20V31SG gas engine generator set. Jani holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Tampere Polytechnic, Finland, but also has experience in the fields of electrical and automation engineering. During his 20-year career at Wärtsilä he has hold various R&D related expert positions including assignments for power plant start-ups in various countries around the world.
