Naomi Celestin has spent most of her life in the arts. Growing up amongst a family of creatives in the cultural hotbed of New Orleans, her childhood was infused with an appreciation for music and the arts. After college, she went on to work in non-profit arts administration and fundraising for over a decade. All the while, she continued to make jewelry as a hobby, until one day she literally stumbled upon a unique idea. She stepped on an old guitar string and was inspired to create a pair of earrings with it. The idea took off, and ReStrung was born in 2011, with musicians donating old strings that are given new life as one-of-a-kind accessories. Celestin’s vision was to create an artisan jewelry collection with a cool vibe and story to tell, while building a brand with a mission to help others. Thanks to the love and support of fans and clients worldwide, ReStrung now employs over a dozen women in New Orleans, Louisiana and Rincon, Puerto Rico, and donates a portion of its profits to charities that support American artists and musicians. When not busy with ReStrung, Celestin is an avid costume designer, long-winded storyteller and explorer of islands and ancient places.
