Mike Westmoreland is currently the Director of Park Operations Development, Optimization, and Standardization for Walt Disney World; responsible for leading the development and implementation of operational products, strategies, and standards related to attractions, custodial, guest relations, park arrival, and services for guests with disabilities. Mike’s diverse career with Disney started in Finance and Business Planning at the Disneyland Resort in 1991. He also worked in the Facilities, Engineering, and Construction division at Disneyland Resort before joining Theme Park Operations in 1996. From there, Mike and his family moved to Florida where he led the operations for the Living Seas and Imagination pavilions at Epcot. He then returned to California to be part of the final construction and opening of Disney California Adventure as the operations representative for program development, design, review, construction, and turnover of Paradise Pier. Following the opening of Disney California Adventure, Mike joined the Hong Kong Disneyland project and spent 6 years on the operational design, construction, commissioning, and opening of the resort; including the training and development of the local operations team. Returning from Hong Kong, Mike headed up worldwide operational safety where he worked with government agencies and industry partners to help develop, revise, and harmonize industry-related codes and ensure Disney Theme Parks and Resorts around the world met operational requirements through standards development and auditing. Prior to his current role, Mike was the Director of Operations for Walt Disney Attractions Japan; acting as liaison and partner with Oriental Land Company in the operation of Tokyo Disney Resort attractions, security, custodial, main entrance, guest relations, transportation, and operations development. Mike holds a BA in Business Administration from Whittier College and an MBA from University of La Verne.
