Kari Gonzales is the Executive Director –Business Services at Transportation Technology Center, Inc (TTCI) in Pueblo, Colorado. She has been a part of TTCI’s organization for nearly 15 years. Kari started as an intern in 2000 and was hired full-time after completing her degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in December of 2002. Kari excelled in conducting research and managing a diverse set of projects in support of the industry’s Strategic Research Initiative (SRI) program and TTCI’s commercial customers. During her time as a research engineer, Kari contributed a set of work that resulted in authoring/co-Authoring of over 25 technical publications, including articles in Railway Age, Railway Track and Structures (RT&S), and the Journal of Wear. In early 2012, Kari was selected as the inaugural candidate for TTCI’s railroad exchange program. Kari spent a year with BNSF on the Condition Based Maintenance team which enhanced her understanding of the railroad business and operations, extended her expertise in wayside inspection systems, and significantly increased her network of contacts throughout the industry. Upon her return to TTCI, Kari was assigned to manage the industry’s senior technical committee, the Equipment Engineering Committee, along with revamping TTCI’s Internal Research and Development (IR&D) program. As part of TTCI’s Senior Management team, Kari has been challenged with new assignments and increasing responsibilities. She has proven capable of being successful when challenged while continuing to experience personal growth. After completing her MBA, Kari was transitioned into her current role. Kari is responsible for both the company-wide strategic planning and many of the business functions associated with the day to day operations for TTCI such as contracts, procurement, publications, proposals, acquisitions and joint ventures.
