Stefano Besseghini graduated in physics at the University of Milan and he is specialized in science and technology of materials with honours, at the same university. He performed his research at the National Research Council, and since 1996 has been the head of Lecco CNR center, one of the most active Italian research center in the field of physical metallurgy He is co-author of seven patents, 60 publications in international journals and numerous presentations at national and international conferences. Since November 2010 he has been appointed President and CEO of RSE – Ricerca sul Sistema Energetico
