Renee Joosten
ICRAVE Lighting Director

Born in the Netherlands, Renée Joosten received her BA in Interior Design from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, the Netherlands. Intrigued by the impact of light within the built environment, she pursued her Master’s in Architectural Lighting from Parsons New School of Design in New York City. After obtaining her MA, she joined Cooley Monato Studio, an award winning Lighting Design office, where she worked as a senior designer/project manager on a variety of high-end residential and retail projects such as Tiffany and Gucci worldwide. As ICRAVE's Lighting Director, Renée established the firm's in-house Lighting Department, fully integrating ICRAVE's interdisciplinary approach to sculpting impactful environments. With her in-depth understanding of interior and lighting principles, she brings projects, starting from conceptual ideas, to successful implementation. Recent awards include the IESNA 2015 Award of Merit for Le District in NYC and the IESNYC 2016 Lumen Award for PAGE restaurant in the DCA airport. Renée is a member of IALD, DLF and IES and a recurring part-time faculty member at Parsons The New School, teaching the Integrated Studio III (combining architecture, interior and lighting design) in 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2017.
