Dr. Joyce Pittman has over 36 years clinical experience as a RN, 17 years’ experience as a certified Wound, Ostomy, Continence (WOC) nurse and 13 years as a Nurse Practitioner. She received her PhD and MSN from Indiana University, FNP from Northern Kentucky University, BSN from University of South Florida, and WOC training from Emory University. She is Wound/Ostomy Clinical Program Coordinator for the Indiana University Health Academic Health Center, a Level I Trauma Center of more than 1100 beds, providing expert clinical consultation regarding complex wound and ostomy management and supporting a team of 10 WOC nurses. In addition to her responsibilities at Indiana University Health, she is also Adjunct Assistant Professor at Indiana University School of Nursing, teaching in the Nurse Practitioner program and conducting research. Joyce is Deputy Editor for the Journal of Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing, past Chair for WOCN Society National Conference Planning Committee, has published numerous journal articles, authored book chapters, is a national speaker regarding WOC conditions and issues. Her practice and research is focused on improving the quality of life of those individuals with wound, ostomy, and continence issues and improving the quality of care provided in our healthcare systems.
