Craig Elder




Craig has a background in electrical engineering with a focus in oceanography and has been designing remote and autonomous systems since 1989. He has logged many thousands of hours performing underwater surveys as an ROV pilot and has designed systems for SeaBotix, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Triton Logging, the Institute for Exploration, the Canadian Scientific Submersible Facility and many others. Craig has been the Community Manager for ArduPilot since 2011, first as the Director of Software Engineering for 3D Robotics, then with Linux Foundation as the Community Manager for Dronecode, and now one of the founders of the ArduPilot Initiative, a commercial support company for ArduPilot. Craig brings a wealth of experience creating and using remote and autonomous systems for inspection and mapping in challenging environments.
