Tom Pittenger




Tom is a Drone Control System Engineer at Intel and is a seasoned engineer with a background in electronics, firmware and autopilot development since 2005. At Intel, he is a co-maintainer of the Intel Falcon 8+ autopilot and works on Intel’s next generation drone flight and compute systems. He is also a co-maintainer of ArduPilot, an open-source autopilot. Prior to that, he led the flight system R&D development at Airphrame and was the firmware maintainer of their ArduPilot-based fixed-wing fleet. Before joining Airphrame, Tom worked at Trimble in the Agriculture division on their ground-based automated farming technologies. Tom holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Fresno. He is the founder of Tomtronics LLC, an engineering consulting service, and co-founder of Crash and Burn Solutions which was developing a drone gamification product.
