Oldcastle manufactures the StarTrack II modular precast-concrete platform grade-crossing system uses no ties and is set on a prepared sub-grade to form a self-supporting slab system free of vertical or lateral movement. Rail is seated on UHMW polyethylene strips, which cushion impact loadings and protect the underlying concrete surface from abrasion. This new design incorporates one-piece construction with Pandrol fasteners for ease of installation and easy access to rail without disturbing the crossing. Each module is cast of 6,000-psi concrete and is 14”, thick by 8’ wide by 5’ or 7’- 06” or 17’- 06” measured along the track and the Heavy Duty model which is 16”, thick by 11’ wide by 5’ measured along the track. StarTrack modules are precast at regional Oldcastle plants to facilitate delivery, quality and professional supervision. Oldcastle also manufactures custom products such as inspection pits, spill and drip track and other engineered solutions for the rail industry.
