Having determined that high quality European style chocolates were not being manufactured in the South, Maggie Lyon Chocolatiers was founded in December of 1981.  Only after two years of extensive marketing research, were the doors opened to the people of Atlanta.  The name Maggie Lyon was chosen in honor of the founder's grandmother, a pioneer woman from Ohio who ran a stagecoach stop until she retired at the age of ninety-two.

Upon opening, Maggie Lyon consisted of a small retail store, in a strip shopping center, with 700 square feet of space.  The idea was to develop and distribute the highest quality products available.  The finest ingredients were used and much attention was given to packaging and presentation of the chocolates.  The real secret to its success was the uncompromising devotion to quality.

1996 brought many changes to Maggie Lyon Chocolatiers.  We had been named the officially licensed chocolates for the Olympics and were finishing our commitment to the games along with the release of our new line, Sweet Innovations.  We enjoyed the experience of working with the sponsors for the Olympics, and wanted to continue providing chocolates for the corporate market.

We are still using the original recipes for our award winning toffees, caramels and truffles.  We now product over 75 different bulk chocolate items and offer packaged chocolates for Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter/Spring and Everyday.  Many things have changed since our beginning in 1981.  However our commitment to service and quality of ingredients and packaging will never change.
