See BT Labs’ Newest NXG Blade Release - Booth 1339

BT Labs’ will soon release its local content ingress blade, the NXG-XCODER, for its flagship NeXgen Gateway signal processing system, allowing users to customize their channel lineup by adding the insertion of locally generated content targeting unique viewer requirements or create a source for advertising revenue. The NXG-XCODER can accept up to 4 HD programs from 4 HDMI input connectors, or up to 8 IP SPTS via the NXG IP backplane. The new blade can encode the HDMI sources, or transcode IP sources in either MPEG-2, H.264, or more advanced codec formats. These encoded or transcoded IP streams are delivered through the NXG system to any of the other NXG modules, such as the QAM Modulator: NXG-32CH-QM, Clear IP: NXG-IP, or Pro:Idiom IP: NXG-PI-IP. The NXG addresses the challenges of migrating to future IP-DRM content protection practices, while supporting today’s CableCARD ingest encryption. BT Labs will continue to add NXG blades to handle next generation technologies as they are introduced.
