Crafted from the finest materials, the balanced proportions, and geometric contours inspired by Art Deco are featured front and center in the new Antheus collection. The exclusive design was developed by designer Christian Haas, known for creating tableware, glassware, lighting, and furniture, as well as complete interior concepts, for customers all over the world. Born in 1974 in Germany, Haas, known for his playful harmony of sobriety and style, has previously designed for Villeroy & Boch’s Tableware division. Antheus is his first collaboration with the Bath & Wellness division.
With Antheus, Haas combined lightness and elegance with a contemporary classic look. The design of Antheus is unusual, yet timeless—featuring unique shapes and an exciting blend of materials. This is an extensive bathroom collection introduced in Europe in 2017 for which Villeroy & Boch has accelerated a North American launch plan including the introduction of the innovative and proprietary Quaryl® bathtub with an optional stainless steel frame, and diverse washbasin designs.
Extravagant Ceramic Washbasin
Antheus washbasins are reminiscent of classic ceramics of the 1920s. They create fascinating shadow and light effects on the surface depending on the user’s perspective. The washbasins are made from TitanCeram, a proprietary, innovative ceramic material developed by Villeroy & Boch specifically for the production of its exquisite premium designs.
TitanCeram allows for allows for sharply defined edges and a radius with extremely thin walls. Antheus washbasins are distinctively cubic but combines perfectly with a gently flowing inner surface of the basin.
The Proprietary Strength of Quaryl®
Antheus bathtubs combine delicate design with incredible strength, made possible through the use of Quaryl®. Quaryl®, a Villeroy & Boch proprietary innovation, is created by blending sanitary acrylic with quartz a naturally hard mineral. This innovation allows bathtubs to have a precise design and a brilliant shine at the same time. The smooth, nonporous and heat-retaining surface is sturdy, non-slip, and very easy to clean.
The line offers flexible design options, with three different overflows to choose from: without an overflow hole with a push-to-open feature, with a classic overflow hole or with the ViFlow concealed overflow function and electronic control device.
History Meets Modernity – A Design Statement
Christian Haas selected unusual combinations of materials to emphasize the unique and contrasting blend of history and modernity in Antheus’ design statement.
Elegant marble tops classically showcase the faceted surface-mounted washbasin. The marble in the basic colour black (Nero Marquina with distinctive white quartz veins) accentuates the elegant design.
Polished stainless steel introduces a trendy, ultra-modern component to the collection. As a solid flowing frame, it acts as a visual border in the washing area and provides an optional design highlight for the bath.
