New Mom Solves Old Problem

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a woman in possession of a new baby, must be in want of a night’s sleep.”

This could be why the baby swaddle industry in the U.S. surpassed $325 million last year.  The American Academy of Pediatrics has been promoting swaddles and swaddle sacks for safe sleeping for years with their ‘back to sleep’ campaign.

But for one new mother, no swaddle was quite good enough. She had learned that her new baby was an escape artist. He wriggled himself out of every swaddle she tried – a veritable Houdini.

New mother Liz Hilton resolved to invent a superior swaddle that would be escape-proof, soft, stretchy, breathable, safe, and comfortable. Hilton used her company, KNITit, to develop and manufacture her swaddle design – the Swaddelini. Hilton is a 3D knitting expert and used her CNC knitting machines to create the Swaddelini in one single seamless process.

The Swaddelini features trademarked Hug Technology®, which delivers the sensation of a hug all night long. This feature was inspired by Hilton’s work creating compression garments for children with lymphedema and cerebral palsy. But of all the features that set the Swaddelini apart, Hilton’s favorite is the escape-proof quality.

Before launching her product, Hilton had 3rd party laboratories test the Swaddelini for safety. Hilton is grateful to have grown a fantastic customer base and gives $1 per swaddle to the American SIDS Foundation to help them find a cure for SIDS.
