The Fleurishing Journey of Aida Bergsen’s Garden of Jewels

Having initiated her journey of wearable sculptures in Istanbul, jewelry designer and sculptor Aida Bergsen creates jewelry with different themes that reflect traces of her hometown and its multi-layered cultural fibre.  “Myths are public dreams and dreams are private myths!” says Aida Bergsen. The journey of Bergsen’s dream where she tries to re-interpret traditional crafts and skills in jewelry making is evolving in time for 20 years now transforming into timeless stories. Bergsen has soon become available in the finest jewelry houses in the United States, UK and Turkey.

Form-based and figurative, Bergsen’s new limited-edition jewelry collection, Convolvulus Sepium, meaning beautiful covering in Latin, is a series of flora and fauna decorating the body from the garden of the designer’s jewels.  Flowers with leaves and vines that intertwine, lizards that capture smaller insects in their mouths, plants that climb and grow like those in a fairy tale, birds and butterflies that land on a petal of a rose, snakes that coil and wrap around –these are the motifs that create Aida Bergsen’s garden of jewels.  Convolvulus Sepium collection pieces are a mix 18K gold and blackened silver, enamel and are set with rose cut diamonds, surrounding everything from large pedants to exclusively cut gemstone rings.

The journey of Convolvulus Sepium collection initiated from Istanbul, to an honorable viewing at Christie’s Auction House in Paris and is currently welcomed at the Bergdorf Goodman in New York as part of a private viewing at the Jewelry Room in March 2019. One of the signuature pieces of the collection, Convolvulus Sepium Brooch, has recently been chosen by Christie’s Auction House in Paris for a special exhibition and auction sales.

From Istanbul to Paris and now in New York. Celebrating the naturalistic worlds with miniature dimensions of flora and fauna, the Convolvulus Sepium limited collection by Aida Bergsen will continue evoking different emotions and significance for  the woman who is wearing it.
