After 21 years in various basement studios, Salvaterra Pottery built a new 2500 square foot commercial studio and gallery. This will allow the needed space to meet and expand our pottery business. Now that we are nicely settled in, we felt it was time to do the American Handcrafted Show.
Our new building allows for a separate space for each step of the process (from production to shipping). Sue was one of the first group of artists selected to go through a training program using the LEAN model, modified specifically for artist. The new studio space was one of the outcomes from going through this training. Her studio operates using many of these manufacturing processes while maintaining the handmade process. It is a fine line to walk and we take the best from both worlds to operate efficiently without compromising the handmade quality.
What does this mean for our wholesale buyers? Quicker turn around time, first of all. We use an inventory system that has shortened our turn around time by about a month. We ship with standardized boxes and use a skin packaging machine to prevent breakage. And if you are in the area we have a nice showroom for you to see our latest work. We are immediately off I-26 for easy access and if you choose to pick up your order loading is extremely easy.
